It is an identification number attached to your farm in the Farm Service Agency database.
Why do I need one?
You need a farm number to access:

FSA farm loans, crop insurance, and disaster assistance compensation
How do I get a farm number?

Make an appointment or drop into your local FSA office

Set aside 30-60 mins for the meeting

Give your address and Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number

Bring your deed with you!

After searching for your property on a county map database, you will be given a farm number if your property does not already have one.
