organic certification cost share program

Description of the Organization:

The Organic Certification Cost Share Program (OCCSP) administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA), provides organic producers and handlers with financial assistance to reduce the cost of organic certification. The program reimburses producers and handlers for a portion of their paid certification costs.

Financial Assistance:

  • Up to 75% reimbursement of organic certifications costs each year

  • Up to $750 for each certification scope (i.e. crops, livestock, or handling)

  • Producers must already by certified and have paid their certification fees to apply for reimbursement

  • Growers can apply to their local FSA office, and applications are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis

  • Eligible costs include application fees, inspection costs, fees related to equivalency agreement/arrangement requirements, and more
