Description of the Organization:

Every day, individuals and food buyers visit our search tool and local food map to find verifiable farm fresh foods that are Certified Piedmont Grown. The mission of Piedmont Grown is to promote local food systems through the certification of food and farm products grown or raised in the North Carolina Piedmont Region. We link consumers to local farm fresh foods, build local markets for farmers and food entrepreneurs, and help grow healthy and prosperous communities. Our website also offers on-farm tourism opportunities.

Alamance, Alexander, Anson, Cabarrus, Caswell, Catawba, Chatham, Cleveland, Davidson, Davie, Durham, Forsyth, Franklin, Gaston, Granville, Guilford, Harnett, Iredell, Johnston, Lee, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Montgomery, Moore, Orange, Person, Randolph, Rockingham, Rowan, Stanly, Stokes, Surry, Union, Vance, Wake, Warren, and Yadkin.

  • Marketing:

    • Local Searchable Farm Food Map & Database

    • Free Online Profile for Farms and other Local Food businesses including farmers markets, restaurants, retail grocers, caterers, distributors, workplace food service

    • Facilitation with wholesale buyers

  • Piedmont Grown Certification:

    • Allows consumers to easily identify farm products grown, raised, or made in the Piedmont Region of North Carolina

    • Requires an annual recertification process

    • Free 4" bumper sticker

    • Local food system advocacy and promotion

    • Periodic newsletter with information for farmers, consumers, and other local food businesses

    • Upon enrollment in the certification program, you can be featured on our interactive local food map and directory, so that you can be located by interested parties as a source of local food.

Fees:

Certification cost is $25 for farms and $50 for local food system businesses including farmers markets, restaurants, caterers, retail grocers, & food distributors. Supporting individuals can enroll in Piedmont Grown for a $25 contribution. Supporting businesses and supporting organizations, including Universities, Colleges, & Schools, as well as Healthcare and Hospitals, can also enroll for $50.
