WNC From the Ground Up is a grassroots nonprofit organization rooted in Western North Carolina, serving communities across Jackson, Macon, Swain, Cherokee, Clay, and Graham Counties—and beyond. The organization works at the intersection of local food systems, farmer viability, food security, and farmland preservation on local, regional, and state levels. Their mission is to keep farmers farming and ensure local food for all by creating and expanding equitable, sustainable markets for local producers while increasing access to fresh, healthy food for underserved and vulnerable populations.
