Overview:

The mission of Cone Health Foundation is to invest in the development and support of activities, programs and organizations that measurably improve the health of people in the greater Greensboro area. They prioritize funding for underserved populations and people of color. Through their grant program, they direct attention and resources to the four funding priorities listed below.

Funding Priorities:

  • Access to necessary health services with emphasis on eliminating
    barriers often encountered
    by people in need

  • Adolescent pregnancy prevention

  • HIV/AIDS

  • Substance abuse

  • Mental health

 

Geographic Location:

Grants are available to organizations located in the greater Greensboro, NC area. 
 

Grant Size:

Funds available and the scope of proposed projects will determine the number and

amount of the grants awarded each year.

Requirements:

Cone Health Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals; contact the

appropriate program officer for more information.

In addition to meeting the funding priorities, your organization must serve people in

the greater Greensboro area and fall into one of the following categories:

  • Nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization

  • Government agency

  • Public school

  • Academic and/or research institution

Please contact the program officer responsible for the priority area that interests you.

The Cone Health Foundation does not support:

  • Activities that exclusively benefit the members of sectarian or religious organizations.

  • Annual fund drives.

  • Political campaigns or other partisan political activity.

  • Direct financial assistance to meet the immediate needs of individuals.

  • Endowments.

  • Retirement of debt.

In selecting grants for funding, the Foundation focuses on supporting permanent changes to the

system that eliminates problems at their sources. The Foundation encourages grant proposals that:

  • Are consistent with the Foundation's funding priorities.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to integrate with existing services and programs.

  • Provide information on collaborations and community support.

  • Provide a clear description of the need for the project and service goals.

  • Provide an understanding of the target population, particularly those who are hard-to-reach or underserved.

  • Demonstrate the capacity to serve the identified population.

  • Address emerging trends and issues.

  • Demonstrate cost effectiveness.

  • Incorporate an evaluation component to measure outcomes.

  • Are culturally sensitive and competent.
