Overview:

The Clif Bar Family Foundation provides small grants for general organizational support and funding for specific projects. The Foundation also offers invitation only grants to specific, predetermined organizations.  

Deadline:

Applications are due February 1, June 1, and October 1 of each year.

Environment 

  • Outdoor Spaces 

  • Pedestrian/Bike Friendliness 

  • Nature Awareness 

  • Preserving Wild Places & Backcountry 

  • Reducing Waste 

  • Renewable Energy 

  • Climate Action 

 

Food & Agriculture 

  • Organic Food & Farming 

  • Hunger & Nutrition 

  • Safeguarding Seeds 

 

Health 

  • Clean Water Initiatives 

  • Improvement of Air Quality 

 

Community 

  • Healthy Housing 

  • Green Jobs & Small Businesses 

  • Arts & Culture 

  • Innovative Education 

 

Priority is given to applicants who: 

1. Address the following objectives: 

  • Protect Earth’s beauty and bounty 

  • Create a healthy food system 

  • Increase opportunities for outdoor activity 

  • Reduce environmental health hazards 

  • Build stronger communities

 

2. Operate with clearly defined objectives and achievable plans

3. Demonstrate strong community ties and operate at the community level 

4. Promote positive change through both the proposed project and the process to implement it 

 

Geographic Location:

Grants are available to organizations state wide. 

Grant Size:

Grants average approximately $7,000 each.

Requirements:

The following areas are not eligible for funding: 

  • Individuals 

  • State agencies 

  • Religious groups 

  • Media 

  • Capital construction 

  • Endowment funds 

  • Deficit funding 

  • For national organizations with local chapters, either the national organization or local chapter located nearby Clif Bar offices may be funded
